Seldom does the mundane intrigue as when travelling an unfamiliar landscape.  Maybe I think that because I’ve spent some time driving in stark strange places.  Maybe I seek these places out because I think I’ll find something.

A strange landscape is filled with artifacts and markers the familiar eye ignores.  To the alien, foreign culture is evidenced in variant lamp posts, warning signs and impersonal objects..  The very character of the landscape is inferred to these forms, as their meaning becomes symbolically greater than their function.
